Guiding Question: What should a large health system such as Inova do when one of its employed physicians invokes their right of conscience and requests not to participate in abortions, provide contraception to patients or other procedures or treatments that go against a provider’s conscience?

Consider the following as you compose your Initial Post:
A patient might have a constitutional or statutory right to a procedure that goes against a provider’s conscience.

May the health system take disciplinary action including denial of staff privileges if the provider refuses to participate?
