Prompt
One striking example of an organization that lacked of organizational integrity is Enron, which displayed amazing growth in its earnings and stock price until stories broke in late 2001 regarding its misrepresentations of earnings and inflated balance sheet. The stock price plummeted and the complete collapse and bankruptcy of the firm occurred shortly thereafter followed by indictments of top executives. The companys failure was attributed to executive greed and a culture that rewarded results regardless of means.
Less than two years before Enron filed bankruptcy and massive fraud became public, the corporation adopted a Code of Ethics. The code included a foreward by Kenneth Lay, its Chairman of the Board, who stated: We want to be proud of Enron and to know that it enjoys a reputation for fairness and honesty and that it is rejected. This objective was echoed in sections that required employees to conduct their business affairs in accordance with the highest ethical standards and moral as well as legal obligations will be fulfilled openly, promptly, and in a manner which will reflect pride on the Companys name.
Share at least two other examples of companies that you believe lack organizational integrity and explain your position.
