Students have options for effective chapter discussions:
(1) Should there be nongendered bathrooms? Would this solve or create problems? Why is the gendering of bathrooms a political issue?
(2) Political campaigns make use of gender in poignant manners — link to a youtube video of a political campaign. How does your commercial highlight or use gendered constructs? What does this say about gender and culture/locale (be it local, state, national)?
(3) You may alternately, or additionally, engage with other ideas, questions, or thoughts relevant to this chapter’s reading and course content. If you will, think about the types of questions and discussions that might emerge in a face-to-face class… you may also find some potential discussion prompts in the affiliated chapter powerpoints!
