Do some research on different kinds of quilt patterns and quilt square patterns.  Some have historic and social meaning.  For example, quilts were sometimes used as signals in the Underground Railroad to give directions or show what homes were safe.

Choose a square or pattern that you like. 
Paraphrase and summarize the history and meaning behind the pattern, colors, size, recipients, use, etc.  Think deeply!
