Quan Huynh

n 1999, Quan Huynh shot and killed another man in a gang-related shootout in Hollywood, California. He was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison and the circumstances made it unclear that he would ever get out. He ended up serving 22 years. Even within the hostile environment of prison, Quan sought his own healing, transformation, and self-discovery and earned his release in 2015.

Describe Quan’s trajectory using Life Course Theory.  Identify significant transitions and turning points in his life that shaped his criminal trajectory and ultimately what helped shape his pathway to desistence.
