For this assignment students will investigate and propose a psychiatric diagnosis based on the case study from the Gorenstein and Comer (2015) textbookCase Studies in Abnormal Psychology chosen in the Week One Initial Call discussion.the case study where Julia a 17 year old is in college on a scholar athelete award. She is dealing with pressure of keeping grades up and keeping weight down to keep scholarship. Coach recently spoke with her about her performance and that her weight is hindering her performance and she started cutting back on meals and working out more. She lost the weight but still felt it wasnt enough and friends started noticing and one contacted her mother who intern contacted the dean. Julia was called to the deans office and told if she did not go get checked out at the hospital for whatever she had going on she would not be able to participate in the running team. So Julia makes the initial call to set up a visit. It appears she is depressed/Stressed but certainly dealing with Nervosa.
This paper will include an in-depth overview of the disorder(s) within the diagnosis treatment options for the diagnosis and a sound rationale that explains why this diagnosis was made. Note that the diagnosis may include more than one psychiatric disorder.
