Then choose a popular dietary supplement that athletes use. Examples include Creatine Monohydrate, Beta-Alanine, branched-chain amino acids, glutamine, HMB, caffeine, pro-hormones, etc. Find 3 peer-reviewed research articles for that supplement.

After selecting a dietary supplement, use the following questions to assess your supplement, then write a  paper summarizing what you found.

Is there any evidence of safety concerns?
Is there evidence of third-party verification of ingredients? (i.e. Informed Choice or NSF Certified for Sport)
Is there evidence of efficacy?
Your summary paper should include a paragraph describing the supplement including information on what the supplement is, who it is manufactured by, how much it costs, the recommended dose, ingredient list, as well as what structure-function claims are made about the supplement on the label or other advertisement information. A second paragraph should describe the physiological evidence supporting the proposed mechanism, i.e., how or why the supplement may do what they say it should do. In your third paragraph summarize your findings regarding the four questions listed above and make a recommendation regarding the use of this supplement. You should site at least 3 peer-reviewed original research sources (meta-analyses are OK, reviews are don’t count) for full credit. Cite your sources in APA format.
