Motivational Interviewing is a powerful tool in patient-centered care.  It incorporates four themes: Partnership, Acceptance, Evocation, Compassion and includes four phases:  Engaging, Focusing, Evoking, and Planning.

Pick one theme to discuss in your initial post and pick one phase in your post to discuss. Your description of both theme and phase should include description and  provide an example that would provide additional clarification.
