Ethical Issues in Biometric Technology

Part 3: Writing a Policy Paper:
Building on the research you conducted for the annotated bibliography, write a paper of 1000 to 1200 words discussing the ethical issues related to your selected technology that are occurring now or will likely occur in the future. Make sure to include relevant findings from the scholarly sources you used in Part 2 and any other sources you wish to use. You must use at least four relevant sources to support your paper. Consider how the legal issues (freedom of expression, copyright, right to privacy and surveillance, and censorship.) we have been discussing relate to your selected technology.

Using one or more of the ethical frameworks (utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics, social justice and social contract theory), propose a policy for addressing the ethical issues related to the new or emerging technology. Cite your sources using either MLA or APA format.

Grading Criteria:

Expectations/completeness:
You fulfill the length requirement for the paper, thoroughly address all assignment criteria, and fully develop and explore concepts.

Ethical issues:
You adeptly analyze and discuss the ethical issues related to your selected technology.

Legal issues:   
You adeptly analyze and discuss the legal issues (freedom of expression, copyright, right to privacy, etc.) related to your selected technology.

Proposed policy:
You develop an accomplished and well-reasoned policy to address the ethical issues raised by your selected technology; you skillfully use one or more of the ethical frameworks to support your proposal.

Evidence:
You support points and subpoints with abundant clarifying detail, include at least four relevant and clearly attributed sources, and effectively link ideas; comprehensive evidence extends ideas and fully authenticates the purpose of the paper.
