The essay should contain an attention getting introduction with a thesis, a body which contains the narrative story, descriptive sensory details, transitional words and phrases, and a conclusion which restates the thesis and provides insight into why you are sharing this story with your audience.  It should contain five or more paragraphs.  You may choose from one of the topics listed below:

1. Your first experience with a serious illness or the death of a close friend or relative.

2. A time when you realized that people are not always what they seem.

3. A volunteering experience that taught you much more than compassion for others.

4 .An experience that taught you to truly appreciate every new day.
