Discuss and critique the Christology of the 20th century theologian who has been discussed in class.

Theologian of experience: Edward Schillebeeckx, O.P. (1914- 
                                      2009); one of the most important and influential Roman           
                                      Catholic theologians of the 20th century
Born in Antwerp, Belgium into a middle-class Flemish   
Family   
                                          2. Entered Dominican Order in 1934; ordained priest in 1941
                                3. Studied at Louvain and Le Saulchoir under Congar and   
                                              Chenu
                                4. University professor in Belgium and Holland
                                5. During Vatican II, his theological lectures in Rome were 
                                              very influential
                                          6.  His commitment to correlating Christian tradition with 
                                                human experience can be seen   
                                                in his writings on sacramental theology, the church/world 
                                                relationship, revelation and   
                                                the mystery of God, Christology, ministry and other areas
                                          7.  Emphasis on experience is especially evident in his
                                                rethinking of Christology
                                          8.  Some of his major writings: Christ, the Sacrament of  the     
                                                Encounter with God (1963), Jesus: An Experiment in   
                                                Christology (1979), Christ, The Experience of Jesus as Lord 
                                                (1980), and Church, the Human Story of God (1990)
