Choose a group of vertebrates and write an essay describing how females and males choose their mates, and the behaviors associated with that selection. For the second half of your essay summarize the research question, methods, results, and conclusions of at least two recent studies (in the last 5 years) that focused on mate-selection behaviors. Studies can focus on one species or multiple species but must be published in peer-reviewed journals.
Essays should be 3 – 4 pages (maximum 5) excluding the cover page and literature cited section, which must be on separate pages. All essays must be typewritten, double spaced with 12 pt. font, and have 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins all around. You must support your statements with facts and examples from the primary literature (journal articles). All references must be cited in the text and in the literature cited section. At least five peer-reviewed journal articles must be used to write your essay. Books, including your textbook, can also be used as additional references, but websites cannot.
