Attribution Errors

Attribution Theory:
The interpretation step is the subjective process of explaining perceptions in ways that make sense to us. Our goal is to create meaning. To do so, we use attributions to craft an explanation of why something happened or why someone acts a certain way. Attributions theory includes the following four elements for analysis:

Locus (Cause): Internal vs. External
Stability (Occurrence): Stable vs. Unstable
Specificity (Effect): Specific vs. Global
Responsibility: Within Control vs. Beyond Control

Answer the following?

Recall a time you failed an exam, an assignment, or a class. Maybe that has never happened to you. Try to remember a time you lost a sports game, a board game or a bet. Explain how the situation unfolded using the 4 attributions of attribution theory.

Locus

Stability

Specificity

Responsibility

Please use all 4 of them in your example.
