[Architecture] as making: technology, innovation and the ideas behind the making of architecture

Topic:
3.7 [Architecture] as making: technology, innovation and the ideas behind the making of architecture The core of architecture is building, which is all about putting things together. If you cant build it, its not architecture. Studying architecture we learn about the use of materials, their assembly durability, and fit for intended purposes. With everrapidly increasing technological advances, in producing architecture, materials and systems, architecture is entering the golden age of the techno-architecture. Understanding materials and technology is not only the essence of architecture, using technology and new materials creatively and completely will yield new, unimagined architectural forms. After all, arent we all about the science of architecture? But do we embrace technology wholeheartedly? What is the meaning of what we make? Does the crafted object also convey a meaning thats different from the machine made object? Architecture wouldnt be anything without materiality, technology and invention. Understanding this is the best place to start.
