Select one of our three readings and answer this question in 650 words:  how does the work reflect the period in which it was written?  So if you select Notes from the Underground, the question would be:  how does Notes reflect principles of  Realism or Naturalism?  You must give a clear definition of the time period and specific quotes from the literature to support your argument.  If you do Confessions:  you would answer how that reading reflect principles of  Romanticism?  If you like the Enlightenment, how does Tartuffe reflect Enlightment principles?

You should be able to glean the principles from each’s sections introduction and writer overview.  Give a variety of quotes from across the text, not just from the first page or, worse, the first paragraph.
