To make this lesson more engaging, I would recommend using storytelling as the prominent methodology.  The teacher/public health educator can certainly give a brief lecture as part of the lesson, but the lecture should we kept under 20 minutes to ensure the class maintains focus and attention.  Storytelling will keep the class interested and entertained more so then lecturing.  Furthermore, storytelling can address difficult topics and the affective domain, which would be especially useful with the topic of mental health.  It can also be more relatable to participants rather than merely hearing the information via lecturing and reinforces speaking and listening skills.  Digital storytelling can be particularly effective when discussing mental health because participants can be exposed to multiple stories from a diverse population.  Most importantly, storytelling will allow participants to be more involved through discussion and can provide real-life applications.
A. Learning Objectives:
1.    To give participants the knowledge of when someone should seek help for their mental health.
2.    To give participants the knowledge of where and how asking for mental health help can be applied.

B. Asking for Help: Strengthen Your Mental Health
1.    The teacher introduces the topic by briefing lecturing for about 10 15 minutes about the topic of seeking help if needed to strengthen their mental health.
2.    The teacher will introduce a DVD with digital storytelling about mental health, asking for help, and where and how asking for help could be applied.  The DVD will be about 30 minutes long and will feature different people telling their stories about seeking help in regards to their mental health.
3.    The teacher will allow for discussion and storytelling from participants for about 30 minutes.
4.    Before the lesson is over, the teacher will elicit answers from participants and re-emphasize critical information/key points about asking for mental health help.

C. Processing Questions:
1.    Identifying:
a.    What are some resources that can provide mental health help?
b.    What prompted some of the storytellers to seek out help?
1.    Analyzing:
a.    How is seeking help a strength rather than a weakness?
b.    Why should people seek out mental health help?
1.    Generalizing:
a.    Would anyone like to share a time they sought out help for a problem because they could not solve the problem by themselves?
b.    Would anyone like to share what self-care techniques they use to maintain their mental health?
