Watch a popular feature film (NOT A DOCUMENTARY) that purports to depict at least loosely real historical events.  Write a 1 page informal short reaction paper analyzing the historical narrative your film presents about the past.  Who are the heroes?  Who are the villains?  What perspective are the filmmakers presenting to the public?  What was going on at the time and place the film was created that made a particular depiction of the past possible or necessary?   

Remember: the important question is not just is it accurate?    The important question is how and why have the filmmakers used the tools of storytelling to create particular narratives about the past.  What does the film tell us about the people who made it and the time they lived in?
