Select a social problem to describe and assess in an academic research paper. You may select any social problem that interests you. Examples include:

Bullying, school shootings, gun control, human trafficking, elder abuse, hate crimes, rape, drug or alcohol abuse, murder, juvenile crime, prostitution, organized crime, pedophilia, suicide, racism, sexism, discrimination, homelessness, poverty, etc.
Your paper should reflect a comprehensive understanding of the social problem as well as the course competencies drawing on the course text, supplementary readings, and relevant personal experiences.

Provide relevant research that encompasses:

The extent of the social problem that you have selected

Who is affected by the problem

What are some of the current policies regarding the social problem

In conclusion:

Summarize your thoughts and purpose for selecting this topic

Describe what solutions are being employed and if they are sufficient to address the problem

If they are sufficient, explain why. If they are not, why not, and what would you do differently?

Support your research findings with relevant qualitative and quantitative data.
