Listen to Beethoven’s 5th Symphony and in 250 words or less evaluate the musical elements used within. Consider the following when listening and responding:
– Changes in dynamics to indicate the beginning of a new movement or to add emphasis.
– The use of different textures within the melody.
– Consonance and dissonance, creating senses of repose and tension at different points in the score.
– Changes in tempo, which evoke different emotions. What does a slower tempo do? A faster tempo?
Your responses will be evaluated on your critical analysis of the score, as well as your incorporation of the musical terms. Be specific and include examples (with timestamps) from within the score to help illustrate your understanding.
