For your discussion, reflect on Avery’s journey to understand her identity. Do you think that she had to meet her birth mother in order to understand who she is?  Do you believe that parents of a different ethnicity can build a strong ethnic identity in an African American child?  Why or why not?  Comment on anything else in the video that you found to be interesting or surprising.  Remember to consider the material that you learned in Chapter 7.
